(RUTHERFORD, NJ) -- The William Carlos Williams Center for the Performing Arts will host an exclusive screening of the film Paterson, presented by Amazon Studios and Bleecker Street, on Monday, December 12. The film pays homage to William Carlos Williams, the Pulitzer Prize-winning poet from Rutherford, NJ and namesake of The Williams Center. The film’s writer/director Jim Jarmusch will attend a pre-reception at 6:30 p.m. followed by an introduction and screening of the film. Tickets are available for $40 from the Center’s website: http://williamscenter.org.
Paterson, which premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, is written and directed by Jim Jarmusch. Paterson (Adam Driver) is a bus driver in the city of Paterson, NJ – they share the name. Every day, Paterson adheres to a simple routine, quietly observing the triumphs and defeats of daily life, along with the poetry evident in its smallest details. He is inspired by the work of William Carlos Williams.
“The Williams Center for the Arts is a historic landmark and has seen a proud evolution over the years in serving the community of Rutherford and the town’s surrounding neighbors,” said Dr. Wayne Narucki, Trustee for The Williams Center for the Arts. “We hope this event can help shine a light on the importance of restoring and preserving this building. We also hope it will bring continued awareness to one of America's most significant poets who would be proud of the Center's continued vibrancy."
