(LAKEWOOD, NJ) -- Gerald Dickens, the great, great grandson of Charles Dickens, brings his one-man show - a theatrical performance of A Christmas Carol inspired by Charles' own energetic readings of the 1860s - to The Strand on Sunday, December 15th at 2:00pm.

Gerald Dickens conjures A Christmas Carol with just a table, wing chair, and hat rack accompanying him on stage. As he leaps, sobs, and laughs, 26 characters of the classic tale are brought vividly to life. Gerald has created different postures and voices for each character, achieving this so adeptly that the audience has no doubt about "who is who," so to speak.

Using his own adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic Christmas tale, Gerald Dickens plays over 30 characters using vocal and physical talents to bring each scene vividly to life.  

A fascination with the life and works of Charles led Gerald Dickens to write and direct further one-man shows including Mr Dickens is Coming!, Nicholas Nickleby, and Sketches by Boz. He regularly performs in major theatres and arts centres as well as at hotels and stately homes.

Tickets for this unique take on the Christmas classic are $22. The Strand is located at 400 Clifton Avenue in Lakewood, New Jersey.

The show features music and lyrics by Grushecky, an iconic musician best known for his work with the Iron City Houserockers and his collaborations with Bruce Springsteen, with whom he co-wrote two songs in the musical. The book is by Jonathan Rosenberg (Americano!, House of Dreams) and direction is by Daniel Kutner (Prince of Broadway).
