(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The Danny Clinch gallery at The Asbury Hotel hosts four bands on Thursday August 24 at 6:30pm for his Transparent exhibit. Performers include Emily Grove, Not an Airplane, The Porchistas, and Bone & Marrow. This is a free show but tips/donations are gladly accepted.
Acclaimed Rock n’ Roll photographer, filmmaker and Jersey Shore native, Danny Clinch has taken his life's work and brought it to The Asbury for an exhibition that is unlike any other that has been seen in the city by the sea for Transparent.
Curated by Danny Clinch and helmed by Tina Kerekes of LVandTK of Asbury Park, the bright glass room on Kingsley Street and Fifth Ave side of The Asbury, features photography, mid-century furniture curated by Tina and vintage Rock n’ Roll swag by Sweet Joey. Live music fills the space on weekends featuring legends and up comers from the burgeoning Asbury Park music scene, making a true community space for artists and art lovers.
Emily Grove - After her second year at Berklee College of Music, Emily Grove decided that it was time to pursue a musical education in the real world. She has performed with just about every local artist, and lent her voice to many of their recordings. Her beautiful, unique voice has stopped people in their tracks on the Asbury Park boardwalk, and is at the heart of everything she does.
Not an Airplane - Nick Shatell - I am not an Airplane. I spent most of the previous decade on the West Coast, where I booked, promoted, and performed over one hundred shows a year from Seattle to LA, and as far east as Boulder, CO. I wrote and recorded one EP and four full length LPs during this time. The fourth album, released in 2012, received critical praise from David Fricke, senior editor of Rolling Stone Magazine, who gave it a four star review in print. In addition, I toured the Netherlands twice, and have shared the stage with many amazing acts, such as; David Lowery, Dawes, The Head and the Heart, Vetiver, Chelsea Wolfe, and many more.
The Porchistas - Lyrically driven porch rock from Montclair, NJ. Recently featured in the HuffPost for their satirical reggae take on actual fake news. 2015 release "Shoot it at the Sun" and 2016 "Axis & Allies" received critical acclaim from multiple publications.
Bone & Marrow - Alternative-psychedelic-folk-rock-electronic - 2015 Asbury Park Music Awards Best Alternative Rock Band.
"The idea was to create a space where people would want to come and hang out, enjoy the photography, the vibe and some music. In fact we put in a drum kit, some amps and guitars so that if someone comes in and they want to jam , they can. With so many great musicians and music venues in town ya really never know who might show up," said Danny Clinch.
