Chelsea Handler Brings New Comedy Show to Wellmont Theater

(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Chelsea Handler, the New Jersey native and original queen of late-night television, prominent activist and author of six books, is set to bring her sit-down comedy show, “Life Will Be the Death of Me,” to the Wellmont Theater in Montclair on Friday, June 28 at 8:00pm.

Her new comedy tour is based off her latest book of the same name, published this April by Random House. It has been characterized by the New York Times as “thrillingly honest, insightful and deeply, darkly funny.” The performance will feature hilarious anecdotes following a year of self-discovery as Handler attempts to make changes in her personal life and in the world at large.

Handler had a seven-year run as the host of E!’s “Chelsea Lately,” and the comedienne moved from the cable network to Netflix in May 2016, bringing “Chelsea” to a global, on-demand generation. From the streaming platform, Handler tackled tough issues with acerbic wit and fearless curiosity, traveled the world and interviewed celebrities, dignitaries and other guests. Her programs have tackled everything from international cultures, education, health, sports, politics and more.

Handler left Netflix in 2018 to focus on her work as an activist, working with EMILY’s List to promote women in public office. Her activism has also crossed into Syria, where she’s worked with the Karam Foundation, which develops education programs for refugee youth, distributes aid and funds sustainable development projects.

Her other books include “My Horizontal Life” (2005), “Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea” (2008), “Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang” (2010), “Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me” (2011) and “Uganda Be Kidding Me” (2014), her fourth nonfiction title to debut at No. 1 on the New York Times Best-Seller List.

The Wellmont Theater is located at 5 Seymour Street in Montclair, New Jersey.  Tickets are available for purchase online.
