Brookdale's Visiting Artist Series Kicks Off January 19

(LINCROFT, NJ) -- Acclaimed local painters, sculptors, photographers and other visual artists will host free workshops and participate in a juried art show this semester as part of the Visiting Artist Series at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft. The series, sponsored in part by the Monmouth County Arts Council, will kick off on January 19 with a juried group show featuring work by the Exhibiting Members of the Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury.

The mixed-media exhibit, running through February 23, will open with a free public reception at 4:00pm on January 19 in the college’s Center for Visual Arts (CVA) Gallery.

As part the reception, Middletown-based artist Eileen Kennedy will discuss her techniques for silver point drawing and egg tempera painting beginning at 5:00pm. At 6:00pm, Middletown-based sculptor and professional iron worker Rick Tierney will provide an overview of his artistic process.

The Visiting Artist Series will continue in March with a mixed-media exhibit featuring work by members of the Art Alliance of Monmouth County. The exhibit, running from March 9 to March 29, will open with a free public reception at 4:00pm on March 9 in the CVA Gallery. Award-winning visual artist Jill Kerwick will present on her unique style of sculptural tableau photography.

The Visiting Artist Series, now in its sixth year, is funded by grants from the Monmouth County Arts Council and Brookdale. All visiting artists also host interactive workshops with Brookdale art students.
