(ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ) -- Lefkes' Executive Culinary Director Anastatios “Tasos” Ntoumas, affectionately known as Taso, has been named the 2019 “Chef of the Year” by the prestigious gastronomic experts at Estiatoria.GR - Greece’s largest pan-Hellenic institution of high-ranking chefs.
Mr. Leonid Gelibterman, President of the International Center of Wine and Gastronomy presented Lefkes Executive Chef Taso with the prestigious title of “Person of the Year for the Greek Gastronomy 2019” at the International forum of Greek Taste Beyond Borders recently held at the Athens Megaron Concert Hall. Lefkes Executive Chef Taso was also presented with a second title “Chef of the Year 2019” with a Gold Award.
This marks the third consecutive year that Taso, the foremost culinary master in Greece, has been recognized with top honors by the organization. His creative, sophisticated delicacies take discerning diners on an elegant, Mediterranean gastronomic journey of time-honored meals with ultra-modern twists inspired by Taso’s passion and integrity. The appealing meals at Lefkes are sourced farm-to-table and prepared daily to the highest culinary standards.

Born in Greece,Taso immigrated to Germany where he gained culinary experience in France and Switzerland. He opened his first restaurant, in Germany, at age 18, and eventually returned to Greece 25 years ago, where he remains as the Executive Chef of Lefkes Athensand Lefkes Santorini. Taso was a participant in the first Hellenic Gastronomy Conference in 2018 and is dedicated to spreading his distinctive tastes and exotic flavors throughout the world.
