(UNION CITY, NJ) -- 4501 Gallery is a new contemporary photography gallery opening at 4501 Park Ave, in Union City, NJ. Focusing on emerging artists, 4501 aims to explore the ways in which the camera can be a tool for self-exploration and understanding the world around us.
“The progression of contemporary photography alongside social media and technology has driven me to open 4501 Gallery, a space for real artists with real objectives,” says founder and head curator, Connar Masotti. “Our location is particularly important to our mission. As an emerging gallery, I felt that it was necessary to position ourselves in an emerging neighborhood, far enough from the noise of the Manhattan art scene, but close enough for convenience.”
The gallery opens to the public on May 6, for its inaugural exhibition, Escape, featuring work by California-based Alex Alvarado and Italian iphoneographer Manilo Matteo. There will also be a press preview of the space and exhibition on May 4 from 2:00pm - 5:00pm.
About 4501 Gallery: 4501 is a contemporary photography gallery in Union City, New Jersey. Our focus is in contemporary emerging photographers who are exploring the ways in which the camera can be used as a tool in self exploration and in creating aesthetically interesting work. As photography becomes more and more oversaturated with the rise of social media, 4501 provides fresh, extraordinary photography.
About Connar Masotti: Connar Graduated from Loyola University Maryland with Bachelor's Degrees in Art history and Business Administration in 2014. During his undergraduate education he founded the online art gallery, Virgin and Child. After 3 years of operation Connar left the gallery to work at Uprise Art in New York City while gaining his Masters Degree in Art Business at Sotheby’s Institute of Art. While in graduate school and writing his Thesis, the idea for a contemporary photography gallery in an emerging area came to fruition. Connar founded 4501 Gallery in January of 2017, beginning as an online space moving into a brick and mortar gallery in May. His passion in the field of photography is clear as he continues to build his artist roster and push the importance of the medium through his innovative gallery.
