(SUMMIT, NJ) -- New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble (NJDTE)’s innovative Summer Intensive and specialized Young Dancers Program will be held at the company’s state-of-the-art facility in downtown Summit, NJ from July 11-29, 2016.
The programs are designed for serious aspiring dancers ages 7-18, and concentrate on strengthening and developing the dancer’s technique and artistic expression. Daily classes include ballet, pointe, modern and contemporary dance, as well as Pilates, yoga, floor barre, dance history, anatomy, and dance psychology. Students have the opportunity to learn repertory works by world-class choreographers and collaborate with cutting-edge choreographers to make new works for the Ensemble.
Dancers who audition for this enriching artistic experience come from all across New Jersey to participate. NJDTE is proud to partner with The Grand Summit Hotel for a second year to provide safe, luxurious accommodations for resident dancers. Auditions will be held February 6-7 and March 5-6, 2016.
Renowned faculty guide and mentor the dancers during the three week-programs, including Nancy Turano (NJDTE Artistic Director), Lenore Pavlakos Morales (Staten Island Ballet), Laura Careless (Royal Ballet), Rosemary Sabovick-Bleich (New Jersey Ballet), Elizabeth Koeppen (Former Associate Director, Parsons Dance), Juan Carlos Peñuela (Ballet Master, Ballet Hispanico), Kate Skarpetowska (Lar Lubovitch Company), Belinda McGuire (Limon Dance Company), among others.
The inspiration flows both ways at NJDTE, as modern faculty member Kate Skarpetowska, named one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch” for 2016, explains. “The NJDTE dancers are an inspiring bunch! It really is a pleasure to see such focus and dedication in these young dancers. There is always great progress throughout the three weeks [of the Summer Intensive], both on the technical level as well as in the maturity of the dancers’ performance abilities."
