(WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- The Pennington Players will present The Diary of Anne Frank from March 11 to March 20, 2016. In this transcendently powerful adaptation by Wendy Kesselman, Anne Frank emerges from history a living, lyrical, intensely gifted young girl, who confronts her rapidly changing life and the increasing horror of her time with astonishing honesty, wit, and determination.
The Diary of Anne Frank is an impassioned drama about the lives of eight people hiding from the Nazis in a concealed storage attic, the play captures the claustrophobic realities of their daily existence—their fear, their hope, their laughter, their grief. Each day of these two dark years, Anne's voice shines through: "When I write I shake off all my cares. But I want to achieve more than that. I want to be useful and bring enjoyment to all people, even those I've never met. I want to go on living even after my death!"
The show will be performed at Kelsey Theatre, on the campus at Mercer County Community College, West Windsor, NJ. Performance dates are: March 11, 12, 13, 18, 19 & 20, 2016. Friday and Saturday night performances at 8:00 pm; Sunday afternoon performances at 2:00 pm. A reception with the cast and crew follows the opening night performance on March 11th and there will be a special Talk back session after the 8pm performance on March 18th.
