(NEWARK, NJ) -- Celebrate Kwanzaa at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) when Forces of Nature Dance Theater perform on Saturday, December 19, 2015 (two performances: 2pm and 7pm) in the intimate Victoria Theater. Expect this Kwanzaa celebration to be spectacular, combining elements of modern and West African dance, ballet, hip-hop, and even martial arts. Tickets range from $29 - $45.
Forces of Nature Dance Theater have produced professional ballets, conducted dance classes and presented concerts and educational programs in New York City, the United States and throughout the world for over 32 years.
Visually inventive and creatively brilliant, the multi-ethnic dancers and drummers of Forces of Nature Dance Theatre perform one-of-a-kind programs that are “sizzling … nothing short of sensational,” says The Washington Post. Led by artistic director and choreographer Abdel R. Salaam, Forces of Nature has spearheaded a unique blend of performing arts for more than three decades.
“Trained in modern dance, ballet, jazz and traditional African dancing, Mr. Salaam works with traditional ritual and dance forms, moving beyond reproduction or reanimation to dance that is not simply African or Afro-American, but a vibrant expression of a newer culture,” writes The New York Times.
