6th Annual "Something Wicked This Way Comes" At Shakespeare Theatre of NJ

(MADISON, NJ) --  The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey will present the sixth annual Something Wicked This Way Comes – a popular one-night-only event – on Monday, October 26 at 7:30 p.m.  The performance kicks off Halloween week and will be held at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre, 36 Madison Ave. in Madison.  Tickets are $38 and can be purchased online at www.ShakespeareNJ.org or by phone by calling the Box Office at 973-408-5600.

Titled from a line in Shakespeare’s MacbethSomething Wicked This Way Comes is a delightfully bone-chilling evening, featuring esteemed actors from The Shakespeare Theatre company as well as guest artists.

This season’s evening, directed by Bonnie J. Monte, offers a new format – a staged reading of Dracula by Hamilton Deane and John L. Balderson, based on the classic horror novel by Bram Stoker.

“Going into our sixth year of Something Wicked This Way Comeswe decided to change things up a bit,” said Monte. “Rather than our typical medley of classic short stories, poems, and snippets of longer tales from the gothic and horror genres, we’re going to read the stage version of Dracula.  The evening will still feature the haunting music of the theremin, played by our annual musical guest, John Hoge, but it will be tailored to function as the score for this semi-staged reading.  We’re very excited to shake things up a little this year, and I can promise a very exciting group of actors who will bring this stage adaptation of Bram Stoker’s famous (infamous!) novel to life.  It’s a perfect treat not only for all the vampiraphiles out there, but for anyone and everyone who loves a great classic horror tale at Halloween time!”

In December, The Shakespeare Theatre will also host Something Merry This Way Comes. This annual holiday gift to our patrons features nostalgic, funny, and inspiring holiday tales, songs, and poems, read by members of The Shakespeare Theatre’s renowned company of actors and guest artists. Something Merry is appropriate for all ages, and provides a refreshing antidote to the commercial glitz and blitz that invades our lives each year at holiday time.
