PST Presents The Actor's Nightmare and The Real Inspector Hound

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Princeton Summer Theater’s critically acclaimed 2015 season continues with a double feature ofThe Actor’s Nightmare by Christopher Durang and The Real Inspector Hound by Tom Stoppard. The comedic one-acts opens on July 23 at the Hamilton Murray Theater on Princeton University’s Campus.

The evening begins with Christopher Durang’s The Actor’s Nightmare, where a man finds himself trapped in his worst fear: being thrown on stage in a performance for which he has never rehearsed. This absurdist look at the world of theater is sure to have you rolling in the aisles as it holds up a mirror to the theater, those who make it, and those who watch.

The laughs continue with Tom Stoppard’s The Real Inspector Hound. A parody of Agatha Christie, The Real Inspector Hound follows two theater critics assigned to review a standard, melodramatic whodunit. What starts off as a typical writing assignment soon becomes anything but, as the reviewers get caught up in a mystery that curiously parallels the events they are watching unfold on stage. Written by four-time Tony-Award winning playwright Tom Stoppard, The Real Inspector Hound is a darkly comedic delight sure to appeal to fans of mystery and comedy alike.

Starring Evan Thompson (George/Moon). Also featuring Ross Barron (Henry/Birdboot), Maeve Brady (Ellen/Cynthia Muldoon), Sarah Cuneo (Mrs. Drudge), David Drew (Magnus Muldoon), Caroline Hertz (Meg), Bits Sola (Sarah/Felicity Cunningham) and PST guest artists Dan Caprera (Inspector Hound) and Phil Rosen (Simon Gascoyne).

The Actor’s Nightmare by Christopher Durang and The Real Inspector Hound by Tom Stoppard, directed by three-time PST company member Brad Wilson. Opens Thursday, July 23. Performances run July 23-26 and July 30-August 2. Thursday-Saturday at 8pm, Saturday and Sunday at 2pm.
