Morris Museum Presents New Play Featuring Chris Lemmon as his Father Jack Lemmon

originally published: 07/01/2015

Morris Museum Presents New Play Featuring Chris Lemmon as his Father Jack Lemmon(Morristown, NJ)— Performer, actor and classically trained musician, Chris Lemmon will be paying tribute to his dad, Jack Lemmon in his critically acclaimed show ‘A Twist of Lemmon’ for two weeks, August 19 through 30, 2015, at the Bickford Theatre at the Morris Museum in Morristown, New Jersey.

‘Twist’ is based on Chris Lemmon's book ‘A Twist of Lemmon’ which tells the story of a beloved Hollywood icon, Jack Lemmon. Jack starred in over sixty films, was nominated for eight Academy Awards and won two Oscars. One for ‘Mister Roberts’ for Best Supporting Actor and the other for ‘Save the Tiger’ for Best Actor.

Chris tells his dad's story in his father's voice and within a few minutes you'd swear it was Jack on stage. The voice and physical resemblance are eerie! Chris chronicles Jack’s life from his birth until his death in 2001 at the age of 76. Chris has you crying and laughing with his dad's stories about his relationships both on and off the screen with producers, directors and legends like James Cagney, Gregory Peck, Marilyn Monroe and of course his best friend Walter Matthau.

This play with music is a heart-warming exploration of this unique, yet universal, father/son story, couched in the lore of the golden age of Hollywood with wonderful behind the scenes stories, dozens of imitations of some of the world's greatest entertainers plus a score of some of Jack's favorite Gershwin songs, performed by Chris.

Chris is an exceptional performer, actor and a classically trained musician. With a career spanning over thirty years Chris has starred in over twenty feature films including ‘Just the Ticket,’ ‘Lena's Holiday’ and ‘That's Life.’ He's starred in television series on all the major networks including ‘Knots Landing’ {CBS}, ‘Studio 59’ {ABC}, ‘Brother & Sisters’ {NBC} and Fox's situation comedy, ‘Duet.’
