Inside The Summer 2015 New Jersey International Film Festival

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The Rutgers Film Co-op/New Jersey Media Arts Center, in association with the Rutgers University Program In Cinema Studies, Jungle Software, Johnson & Johnson, Footage Firm, New Brunswick City Market, and Jimmy Johns, is proud to present the 20th annual New Jersey International Film Festival Summer 2015.  Showcasing new international films, American independent features, animation, experimental and short subjects, and cutting-edge documentaries, the New Jersey International Film Festival Summer 2015 will feature 25 film screenings. The Festival will run from May 30-June 14, 2015.

All the competition films selected were screened by a panel of judges including media professionals, journalists, students, and academics. These judges selected the 25 finalists which will be publicly screened at our Festival. These finalists were selected from over 383 works submitted by filmmakers from around the world. In addition, the judges chose the Prize Winners in conjunction with the Festival Director. Prize winners will be announced after the screenings on Sunday, June 14.

Film Premieres:

25 films will have their New Jersey Premiere screenings as part of the New Jersey International Film Festival Summer 2015. Some of these include: Chris Brown’s Soap -- a steamy short film from England; Greg Locke’s gorgeous and wry indy feature film Forever into Space; Agneya Singh’s independent and irreverent feature film from India M Cream; Zeynep Kocak’s Tick Tock -- a beautiful animated film from Turkey; Patrick Branson’s illuminating feature-length documentary on American Blues music America’s Blues; Jeff McKay’s compelling portrait of renown Jersey based photographer Linda Troeller -- Inside the Frame: Portrait of Photographer Linda Troeller; Tim Jackson’s fascinating documentary When Things Go Wrong: Robin Lane Story which focuses on the life of Robin Lane, who has all but disappeared from rock history despite being one of the first women to front her own all-male rock band; Saul Pincus’s Nocturne – an eerily beautiful feature film from Canada about an insomniac who falls in love with a sleepwalker; Roger Weisberg’s terrific documentary Dream On -- which re-examines the American Dream; White Widow’s brilliant reworking of Lotte Reninger’s Cinderella; Marco Riedl’s supernatural thriller from Germany Keeper of the Past; Serena Shulman’s hilarious short film about Passover The Ten Plagues; two great short films David Spaltro’s The Cat’s Cradle  and Crosby Selander’s Natural Insemination – both about couples trying to get pregnant; William Davis’s Secrets of Llewellyn Park a terrific documentary which mixes contemporary stories with history, demonstrating that the vibrant life of a park in New Jersey; and many others. Special Guest Appearances by Directors, Artists, and Scholars:

This summer we are pleased to announce over fifteen confirmed special guest appearances by film directors, artists, actors, and scholars to the 2015 New Jersey International Film Festival! All visiting directors will introduce their work and do a Question and Answer session after the screenings. Special Promotions/New Screening Facility:

There will be Free Food served at the 2015 New Jersey International Film Festival prior to all the competition screenings courtesy of Jimmy John's of New Brunswick! Free Parking in University lots near the screening space. Our new primary screening location Voorhees Hall #105 features comfortable, cushioned seats, stadium seating, and hi-definition projection and sound systems!
