(GLASSBORO, NJ) -- What if we could view the world as others see it? How would it alter your own perspective? Eight student choreographers from Rowan University’s Department of Theatre & Dance set out to answer those questions as they share their views in VERSES. Performances are May 1 and 2, 2015 at 8:00 pm, and May 3 at 3:00 pm in Tohill Theatre.
The annual student choreography showcase highlights original student-created pieces. La’Nise Ambrose of Mays Landing, Nichole Bieth of Manchester, Kelbie Brown of Hammonton, Amy Iannuzzi of Haddon Township, Katherine Kiessling of Bridgeton, Saarah Prodani of Long Valley, Samantha Rizzo of Hillsborough, and Hayley Solberg of Hopatcong have produced fresh works exploring their take on reality and the issues people are faced with in the world in which we live.
Under the direction of assistant professor Paule Turner, the department’s choreography class has aimed to find honesty in movement and expressions. Continuing an effort to promote dance as art, this concert assembles a cast of 40 student performers to showcase student work developed through a year-long creative process with Turner.
Tohill Theatre is located in Bunce Hall at Rowan University, Route 322 in Glassboro, NJ. Tickets are $10, general admission; and $5 for seniors/non-Rowan students/staff/alumni/military. Tickets for Rowan students are free with a valid ID. For information and advance tickets, please visit www.rowan.edu/theatredance, rowan.tix.com, or call the box office at (856) 256-4545.
