(Union, NJ) – Ars Vitalis: The New Jersey New Music Forum at Kean University will bring four distinguished guest composers to Kean’s Enlow Recital Hall, located at 215 North Avenue in Hillside, N.J., on Thursday, April 23, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 and include a post-concert reception with the composers.
The concert will include works by renowned composer and music theorist Prof. Dmitri Tymoczko of Princeton University; Kean alumnus and Prof. and Music Technology Specialist for Worcester Polytechnic Institute, V.J. Manzo; noted composer and pianist Joseph Turrin; and Roger Stubblefield, an important voice in the New Jersey new music community. All composers will be in attendance and will meet and greet audience members at the post-concert reception.
“For 16 years, Kean has been hosting some of the finest New Jersey area composers, and this year continues that trend,” said Dr. Matthew Halper, Artistic Director of Ars Vitalis and Professor for Kean’s Conservatory of Music. “Our audiences get to meet the composers behind the music, and get to hear exceptional performing artists in our beautiful Enlow Hall.”
The program will feature diverse chamber music, including two world premieres, performed by guest artists: Amernet String Quartet, the contemporary ensemble Flexible Music, violist Erin Wight, cellist Louise Dubin and pianist Stephen Gosling.
