Tony Award Nominee Gregg Edelman To Narrate Program At Leonia Chamber Musicians Society

(Leonia, NJ) -- Bring the family to the Leonia Chamber Musicians Society Inc.'s final performance of the 2014-2015 season's three concert series on April 19 at 2:30 p.m.  Hear animals come to life, as two children's stories are presented, both set to music with narration.  The concert will be held at American Legion Hall, 399 Broad Avenue, in Leonia, New Jersey and is open to the public.  Children are especially welcome and admitted free-of-charge.

The family oriented program features two favorite children’s stories, Babar the Elephant by Jean de Brunhoff, set to music by Francis Poulenc, and Ferdinand the Bull, by Munro Leaf, set to music by Alan Ridout.  Actor Gregg Edelman, a four-time Tony® Award nominee, will narrate, with shadow puppetry provided by Master Puppeteer Steven Swank.  Music by Franz Haydn and Camille Saint-Saëns will also be performed.

Leading New York professional musicians, currently performing at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, as well as living in Leonia will perform in the concert.  Leonia Chamber Musicians Society's member Daryl Goldberg, cello will be joined by guest artists Melanie Bradford, flute; Andrejs Jansons, oboe; Eric Weidman, clarinet; Mark Timmerman, bassoon; Lauren Hosford, French horn; Roy Lewis and Sandra Goldberg, violins; and Maggie Speier, viola.

The delightful Babar story describes the adventures of a young elephant that leaves the jungle for life in the city.  Ferdinand, the quiet Spanish bull, prefers to smell the flowers rather than compete in a bullfight.  Don't miss the bird song in the Haydn Lark Quartet and a lovely swan from Saint-Saëns' Carnival of the Animals.

Refreshments will be served after the concert.  The audience will have an opportunity to meet and greet the musicians.  Tickets will be available at the door, $20 for adults, $15 for seniors over 65, and students under 18 are admitted free.  Reservations are highly recommended.  Contact Daryl Goldberg at 201-947-3923 or dgcello@aol.com for reservations.
