Rutgers Jazz Ensemble To Perform At Blue Note Jazz Club

The Rutgers Jazz Ensemble is set to perform two shows at the legendary Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City on Monday, March 30, 2015, at 8 and 10:30 p.m. The student ensemble will be joined by the Rutgers Faculty Jazz Septet.

Local musicians include bassist Christopher Smith of New Brunswick, drummer Kyle Duppstadt of New Brunswick, drummer Daniel Giannone of Wayne, guitarist John Morrison of Princeton, guitarist John Nunez of New Brunswick, pianist Michael Bernabe of Hamilton Square, pianist Luciano Minetti of Cresskill, saxophonist Jimmy Merchant of Mayetta, saxophonist Oliver Santana Rivera of New Brunswick, saxophonist Sam Tobias of New Brunswick, trombonist Matthew Echols of Piscataway, trombonist Ben Weisiger of New Brunswick, trumpet player Bennett Devenny of Bridgewater, trumpet player Shawn Edmonds of Hackensack, and trumpet player Kao Yi-Jiun of New Brunswick.

The Blue Note Jazz club is at 131 W. Third St. in New York City Tickets, which are $10 and $15, may be purchased by calling 212-475-8592 or by visiting www.bluenote.net.

About Mason Gross School of the Arts

Founded in 1976, Mason Gross School of the Arts is the flagship public arts conservatory of New Jersey. Part of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, the school is home to the departments of Dance, Music, Theater, and Visual Arts as well as the Brodsky Center for Innovative Editions, Mason Gross Extension Division, Arts Online, and the Rutgers Center For Digital Filmmaking. Its faculty and alumni rosters include arts professionals recognized nationally and internationally, including Kristin Davis, Calista Flockhart, Avery Brooks, Cleo Mack, William Pope.L, Alice Aycock, Sean Jones, and Cristina Pato. The school’s enrollment of 752 undergraduates and 281 graduate students across four departments, combined with a faculty of 219, ensures students the opportunity to work closely with accomplished artists within their fields.
