(ENGLEWOOD, NJ) -- Bergen Performing Arts Center located at 30 North Van Brunt Street in Englewood, New Jersey presents a Korean Cultural Initiative Show: Live at the Cabaret – Volume 1: The JC Quintet on Wednesday, March 18th 2015 from 7-9 PM. The JC Quintet
Joo Chan Im (JC), a current member of New York Korean Jazz Orchestra, is an active drummer/composer in New York, Washington D.C., and Korea. He has performed various types of music including American and Korean pop, funk, and R&B music in numerous clubs both in NYC and Korea. JC moved to Maryland in 2003 from South Korea, and started his career in Washington and Virginia playing with many smooth jazz style musicians. JC moved to New York to pursue undergraduate degree at the New School “Jazz and Contemporary Music” department, and also completed his Master of Music in Jazz Studies at Queens College.
JC is well-known for his flawless drum technique. His musicality stands out among his peers for his ability to compose. Before moving to the U.S., JC formed a band named the “3Kings” whose video went viral among Korean drummers. Subsequently, JC became the drummer for various Korean artists such as Kim Bum Soo, Lee Moon Sae, Byun Jin Sub, Jang Yoon Jung, Nam Jin, Song Young Joo, Park Juwon just to name a few. JC also received the honor of performing at the prestigious Blue Note Jazz Festival in NYC and JZ Music Festival held in Shanghai, China.
For bergenPAC's first Live at the Cabaret show, the JC Quintet will be performing standard jazz and pop numbers plus JC's own compositions.
