(LOVELADIES, NJ) -- Bellarine Theatre Company and the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences are proud to be partnering for another season of theatre. Their next production is "Songs For A New World" which runs March 12-14 at 7:00pm at LBIF (120 Long Beach Boulevard) in Loveladies, NJ.
"Songs For A New World" is a contemporary song cycle that weaves characters and history together, illuminating the timelessness of self-discovery. It's about one moment. It's about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back. These are the stories and characters of today, the Songs For A New World. The first musical from Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown (Parade, Bridges Of Madison County, 13, The Last 5 Years), this moving collection of powerful songs examines life, love and the choices we make. Brown transports his audience from the deck of a 1492 Spanish sailing ship to a ledge 57 stories above Fifth Avenue to meet a startling array of characters ranging from a young man who has determined that basket-ball is his ticket out of the ghetto to a woman whose dream of marrying rich nabs her the man of her dreams and a soulless marriage. Bellarine's production of "Songs For A New World" proudly boasts professional musicians and performers along side local talent...yes, musicians as well..this is Bellarine's first production at LBIF that features a live orchestra!
Last year, the pair presented works such as "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," "Dorothy Meets Alice" (an area premiere that hosted a special needs friendly performance), and "Bat Boy: The Musical," another area premiere. Bellarine believes in presenting high quality productions, and they are thrilled to be performing at LBIF again this year.
