Mana Hosts BEYOND Conference

originally published: 02/25/2015
(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- A select group of innovators, creators, and leaders from the fields of tech, science, fashion, art, and cuisine will gather for a free one-day conference in March to share stories of inspiration, insight, and ideas for the future.

The Beyond Conference, taking place on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Mana Contemporary, is a conversation geared towards exchanging ideas and making paths cross. When an artist sits down with a chef, collaboration blossoms. When a scientist chats with a fashion designer, bold ideas are born. Mana Contemporary's Beyond is about bringing these ideas and the creators that shape them, all into one space.

At Beyond, these leading figures will have the platform to dive into the ideas that are fueling their industries. Hosted by award-winning television journalist Jessica Abo, each presenter will discuss the challenges that drive their innovation and relate the creative paths which have brought them to the stage at Mana Contemporary.

Among the speakers presenting their ideas and experiences will be leaders in the field of business, including Barry Salzberg, CEO of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited and Tal Keinan, Chairman and CEO of KCPS & Company, a New York and Tel Aviv-based management firm. Matthew Scheckner serves as Executive Director of Advertising Week, the largest annual gathering of advertising, marketing and media decision-makers in North America.

As the first female chief executive ranked in the Research Industry's Top 25, Shelley Zalis, CEO of IPSOS OTX has devoted herself to becoming a mentor and friend to women and leaders in her industry. Zalis created Online Testing Exchange, which in just nine years became one of the largest and fastest growing research companies in the world.

Speaking on behalf of the creative sector, contemporary sculptor Boaz Vaadia, whose work is featured in museums, private collections, and outdoor spaces throughout the world, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, will deliver his talk "Sculpting with Stone." Vaadia' s figurative sculptures are hand-hewn and chiseled, using materials from his own urban landscape, connecting each sculpture to man's environment. Robyn Shapiro, Director of Community for the Lowline, will discuss this innovative proposal to use solar technology to illuminate an historic trolley terminal in the Lower East Side to create the world's first underground park, complete with living plants and public programming.

From the world of cuisine and social activism will be the founder of "Meatless Monday Israel," Miki Haimovich, and Israeli "Master Chef" judge and industry-leading gastronomist, Michal Ansky. Chef and restaurateur, Michael Solomonov, will show why Food & Wine magazine named him among the country's top "Empire Builders," admiring his devotion to "reinventing overlooked foods."

Yoni Bloch is a musician and the founder and CEO of Interlude, a technology company that designs, develops, markets and enables the creation of interactive videos. Interlude has created interactive videos for Shell, Subaru, Fox TV, ESPN and others, as well as Bob Dylan's wildly acclaimed interactive music video for "Like A Rolling Stone" which was named "Best Music Video of 2013" by TIME Magazine.

Then there are those making a direct difference in people's lives. Danny Weissberg is the co-founder and CEO of VoiceItt, a breakthrough voice-recognition for the speech impaired. Professor Thalma Lobel is an internationally-recognized psychologist, author, and professor whose work has reached thousands.

Nimrod Elmish, Founder & Co CEO of Cardboard Technologies, is committed to finding sustainable solutions to improving our environment. The cardboard bikes he created represent the first implementation of the cardboard technology. Made mainly from recycled cardboard with additional parts made of recycled plastic (PETE) and recycled car tires. Cardboard Technologies' industrial and environmental game changing revolution will touch both consumers and enterprises through turning post market waste into useful products.

The Beyond Conference, a collaborative effort of Mana Contemporary and the Consulate General of Israel in New York, is a gathering that aims to connect as much as it does to educate. Participants, coming from all fields, have the unique opportunity to build upon the ideas that each presenter delivers by connecting with a community of attendees who share a passion for creation through collaboration. Attendees will enjoy a wide range of food and entertainment, including a wide-ranging Israeli food showcase and performances from award-winning comedian Ari Teman and highly-acclaimed Israeli singer/songwriter Shira Gavrielov.

Come to be creative. Come to be inspired. Go Beyond.
