The Garage Theatre Presents "Landscape of the Body"

originally published: 01/27/2015
(ENGLEWOOD, NJ) -- The Garage Theatre Group presents "Landscape of the Body" by John Guare at the newly renovated Black Box Theater at bergenPAC in Englewood. The performance marks the first in a collaboration between Garage Theatre Group and the Performing Arts School at bergenPAC. Performances run from February 12 through March 1.

A jigsaw of life, death, and notions of identity, John Guare’s vibrant and unsettling LANDSCAPE OF THE BODY is simultaneously a poetic portrait and an engrossing journey. Narrated with musicality and crude wisdom, the episodic nature of the play refuses to leave the audience comfortable or unmoved. The play, set in Greenwich Village during the early 1970’s, follows a single mother as she tries to navigate her turbulent world. A cast of desperately eccentric characters forms the picture of a radical community amidst a landscape of destruction and loss. This production explores the divide between life and death and the ways we contort our identity as we try to find lives of meaning.

This performance marks the first in a collaboration between Garage Theatre Group and The Performing Arts School at bergenPAC. It will be performed in the newly renovated Black Box Theater, located at 38 N. Van Brunt St., Englewood, NJ, 07631.

The cast includes Fred Alvaro, Justin Cimino, Arielle Haller-Silverstone, Sarah Koestner*, Jason Martinez, Paul Murphy*, Marci Elyn Schein*, Lauren Slakter, Julian Song, Nicholas Wilder -- *=Member, Actors Equity Association

Performances include February 12,13,14,19,20,21,26,27,28 at 8pm; February 15,22, and March 1 at 3pm

The Black Box Theater at Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenPAC) is located at 30 North Van Brunt Street in Englewood, NJ.
