Dorothy is back in Kansas and Christmas is only a few days away but she sees her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry aren't very happy. They're losing heart because times are hard and there's not much money for Christmas. Her Aunt and Uncle just seem to have lost the Christmas spirit. Looking for some help from her old friends she Dorothy travels back to Oz to but discovers that they are feeling down as well. Something's wrong both at home and in Oz and Dorothy and Toto quickly discover that the Wicked Witch has stolen the Christmas spirit!
Can Dorothy rescue Christmas and make everyone happy?
Director Laura Byrne-Cristiano thought the show would be a great holiday presentation for the Studio Playhouse's cap off to their regular children's theater program. "It was a kids' show that adults could enjoy too. It's a classic that everyone knows with a new spin," she said.
When asked if fans of the original story will see a new take on this production, she said. "For starters Toto talks!"
"Having a live action talking Toto is priceless. I really enjoy a chase sequence that we have in the castle where Dorothy and friends hide from the witch in a number of hilarious ways, " she said on the one of the shows comic scenes.
"Come on out and have some fun with your kids or grandkids, and get some holiday spirit," she added.
