AP In 3 Film Challenge

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to create a 3-minute film in 72 hours or less. Sound easy? Well, the challenge is also based on a specific theme that you're provided, and all themes deal with Asbury Park in some way. Known as The AP in 3 Film Challenge, the challenge takes place October 15-19 and is run by The Arts Coalition of Asbury Park (ArtsCAP) and The ShowRoom Cinema.

On Wednesday, October 15, you'll pick up a Film Challenge packet at 4PM which will include the theme/log line, a prop, the Film Challenge Logo and a line of dialog that must be used within your production.

On Saturday, October 19, your finished film must be delivered to The ShowRoom Cinema (707 Cookman Avenue, Asbury Park, NJ) by 4pm. The top 10 leading entries as pre-selected by a panel of judges will be shown to an audience at The ShowRoom Cinema, at 8pm Sunday, October 19th. The audience will then vote for the winner of the Audience Award. There will also be winners in the Runners Up category and the Best of Show category. Prizes will be distributed in each winning category. The winning films will also be shown for a month prior to all feature films at The ShowRoom Cinema.

DURATION: Production teams or individual producers will have 72 hours – starting Wednesday, October 15th at 4PM through Saturday, October 18th at 4PM to return a finished 3 minute film. Other than forming your team, finding your actors, selecting your equipment and securing shooting locations, all actual production from shooting to post production MUST BE completed during the film challenge period 4pm October 15th- 4pm October 18th, 2014.

THEME/LOG LINE: The theme will be given to you IN YOUR PACKET on Wednesday, October 15, it will be something specifically to do and centered about Asbury Park 2014.

OFFICIAL RULES:

ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible, entries must be the original work of the entrant; must not infringe on any third-party's rights; must be suitable for publication (i.e., may not be obscene or indecent); must not contain obscene or pornographic material; may not contain defamatory statements about any person, company, organization or entity; may not invade privacy or other rights of any person, company or entity; may not in any other way violate applicable laws and regulations; and may not contain any copyrighted elements. Entries containing prohibited or inappropriate content as determined by the AP in 3 Film Challenge, in its sole discretion, to be inappropriate will be disqualified. AP in 3 Film Challenge reserves the right to make the final determination as to which entries are eligible.

2. THE START: All teams must register to enter either online via our registration page on EventBrite (click here) or in person at The ShowRoom Cinema. Entry fee is $25. (there is a small processing service fee when registering on-line)

2A. Pick up your production packets at The ShowRoom Cinema on WEDNESDAY, October 15th between 4PM and 7PM. At that time, each team will be given the opportunity to choose their film's genre. Genres include but are not limited to Drama, Comedy, Horror, Animation, Action, Documentary, Western, etc.

3. DIALOGUE AND PROP: All films must contain the designated line of dialog as outlined in the packet. The line must appear in its entirety, unchanged from how it is written. The prop,also included in the packet, is to be included in the film and be on screen for at least 5 seconds.

4. MUSIC: Participating team must have the rights to any copyrighted music used in its film and provide proof. Use original music to be safe.

5. LENGTH: The finished film cannot be any longer than 3 minutes.Credits at the end of each film are limited to a maximum of 20 seconds, in addition to the 3 minute maximum time limit. For example, you may have a 3 minute film plus 20 seconds of credits for a total running time of 3:20:00. Films any longer than 3:20:00 are not eligible.

6. LOGO: The AP in 3 logo needs to be displayed at either the beginning or end of the film.

7. FORMAT: The finished film/video must be submitted on a data DVD or USB Flash Drive as a Quicktime file with no proprietary codecs on either. A name and contact phone # should be on all entries. A filled in "Submitted Film" application, which is in the Film Challenge packet, should accompany the 3 minute film.

8. No entries will be returned.

9. DEADLINE: All films must be delivered to the ShowRoom Cinema by 4PM Saturday, October 18th, 2014.

10. RULES COULD CHANGE: The AP in 3 Film Challenge organizers reserve the right to amend these rules up until the festival.
