The show will take place at The Saint (601 Main Street in Asbury Park, NJ), a venue whose mission is virtually identical to The Penguin; each strives to offer the very best music for the music fan who loves discovering new artists. Since 1994, the club has hosted great indie and national acts like Josh Ritter, The Trews, Griffen House, Tegan and Sara, Ingram Hill, and Red Wanting Blue -- all who have been part of Penguin playlists over the years.
"We're ecstatic to have such great artists for this show," said Gary Wien, Program Director for The Penguin. "Kyle Adem's last release came in at number two on our list of Top 70 releases for 2012, and Arlan Feiles came in at number three. Meanwhile, The Sunday Blues will release one of the most eagerly anticipated albums of the year this summer, and George Wirth is a true legend. Throw in a rare appearance from Old Folks Home, a very cool pop/rock band from Winnipeg, and you've got an amazing lineup!"
Admission is $7 and doors open at 7pm. For more information visit https://www.facebook.com/events/138035583050311/
About the Artists:
Kyle Adem is a singer-songwriter from Miami, FL. "I was simply blown away the first time I heard this release by Kyle," said Wien. "It's simply breathtaking Americana/folk music. Apparently it's his seventh album. Where have I been?" |
Arlan Feiles and the Broken Hearted is a band out of Asbury Park, NJ. "Arlan has a shelf full of awards from the past few years and continues to be put out great album after album," said Wien. "Two of which appeared in my book, Are You Listening? which featured my list of the Top 100 releases of the last decade by a Jersey artist." |
The Sunday Blues is a band out of Asbury Park, NJ. "Their debut is one of the most eagerly awaited records around here in some time," said Wien. "The band has a very cool classic rock mixed with americana kind of vibe. They remind me of the work Nils Lofgren did with his early band, Grin." |
George Wirth is a singer-songwriter from Brick, NJ. "George is a brilliant storyteller," said Wien. "The characters in his songs literally live and breathe. Between his words, his melodies, and his gravelly voice, his songs reel you in and don't let go. Two of his albums appeared in my Top 100 list of the past decade as well." |
Old Folks Home is a band from Winnipeg, Canada. "They're touring in support of their latest album, Black & Blue, which was released in May," said Wien. "They've got a really cool sound that will make the night like a true Penguin playlist, flowing from one genre to another, yet working in synch." |
